Frequently Asked Questions

Where can Zinstall Backup save my stuff?
The easiest option is just an external USB drive. Zinstall Backup will automatically detect the USB hard drive and save your backup to that. Alternatively, you can backup to Dropbox, backup to OneDrive, backup to Amazon S3 or other cloud storage, backup to a NAS / network drive, to a Personal Cloud drive and so on – any place where you can store files. You can even get Cloud storage directly from us – see plans above.
Does my backup drive have to be constantly connected? What if I have to remove it?
No, you don’t need to have your backup drive connected at all times. Zinstall Backup will check if it’s there from time to time, and when it is – do an update to your backup, automatically. You don’t need to do anything at all, as long as you connect the drive at least once in a while.
Can I have other stuff, like my files and folders, on the backup drive – in addition to the backup?
Nothing gets erased from the drive you use for backup. You can even continue using it normally to store your stuff, in addition to the backup. Zinstall Backup will just create its own folder on the drive and keep the backup files there.
Will Zinstall FullBack work with Windows 11? 10? 8? 7?
Yes, Windows 11 and Windows 10 are fully supported – as well as Windows 8.1, 8, and 7.
Can I use FullBack on a Windows on ARM laptop, e.g. to backup Surface Pro X, Lenovo Yoga 5G or Samsung Galaxytab S?
Yes – ARM, Snapdragon and Qualcomm laptops are supported as well! Here is how to backup an ARM laptop.
What if my new computer has a different Windows version? Can I still restore?
Yes, that’s not a problem. You can restore to a different Windows version and different hardware. For example, restoring a backup of Windows 7 32bit Dell onto a Windows 11 64bit HP is fully supported.
Is my Backup encrypted?
Yes, your backup is encrypted with military-grade AES-256 encryption.
What happens if my computer is hit by ransomware or cryptovirus?
Your Backup files stay safe (using our SecureZone technology). Since a ransomware infection makes the computer unusable, you would simply restore Windows back to factory settings, and restore from your backup. No need to negotiate with or pay the hackers.
What about privacy? Can someone look inside my backup?
Zinstall Backup is stored in secure containers, which only you can open. Even if you choose to store your backup on the Cloud, your Cloud provider will only see encrypted backup files, and will not be able to look inside them. Your privacy is guaranteed – by design, not just by our word.
Do I have to pay every year? Or is it a one time payment?
Zinstall Fullback is a software product – you only make a single one-time payment. No need to renew the license every year (unless you also choose get Cloud storage from us, which is a separate $99 annual payment. You don’t have to, though – it is separate from the software itself and is completely optional). Each license is valid for 1 protected computer (unlimited recoveries to same computer), and recovery to 1 replacement computer in case of a disaster.
How many computers can I use FullBack on?
Each license is valid for 1 protected computer (unlimited recoveries to same computer), and recovery to 1 replacement computer in case of a disaster. For additional computers, we do have quantity discounts available. Just change the quantity on the purchase page.
